Moving into your residence hall or apartment is an exciting time for both new and returning students. University Housing staff is here to help. We’ll do our very best to make the move-in process easy so you can settle into your new home as quickly as possible.

Spaces will be reserved near the entrances of residential areas for unloading vehicles, for a maximum of 45-minutes. Please visit NC State Transportation website for early move-in maps and unloading permits.
Print this PDF packing list or save a copy of the Google Doc. Before you go shopping, be sure to talk with your roommate and compare notes. Some items are better shared between roommates like coffee pots, curtains, lounge chairs, area rugs, etc. Here are some sustainable ideas from our friends at NC State’s Waste Reduction and Recycling department to save you money and room clutter. Love to ride your bike? Check out NC State’s convenient and popular bike-share program LimeBike! The program means you may want to leave your own bike at home to avoid theft or damage. Sharing a Room
Students should contact their roommate before they begin shopping and packing for their move to campus. Decide who will be responsible for certain shared items such as furniture, area rugs, media equipment or the coffee pot. Coordinating decor avoids duplicating items.
Getting to Campus
Virtual Unloading Permits
Spaces will be reserved near the entrances of residential areas for unloading vehicles, for a maximum of 45-minutes. To prevent traffic and congestion, please follow the route that is provided on our NC State Guides app.
*Tram service will be available for Bowen, Carroll, and Metcalf residence halls on Thursday, August 15, Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Follow the signs to access the Coliseum Parking Deck from Cates Avenue. Staff will be available to assist you.
Reserved spaces are for unloading only. Once you have completed your unloading, move your vehicle(s) to the areas designated for early check-in long-term parking.Please visit NC State Transportation for move-in maps and unloading permits.
University Housing officially opens on Friday, August 16 at 9:00 a.m. If you need to arrive prior to August 16 you can request early arrival. The earliest we can accommodate requests is Tuesday, August 13.
Members of an approved Living Learning Community or August Orientation with New Student Programs who are scheduled to arrive prior to August 16 do not need to request early arrival since your arrival dates have already been adjusted based on prior arrangements.
