Residents: It’s time to prepare for Fall 2021 Move-In

Check-in station

University Housing announced plans for the Fall 2021 semester’s move-in operation, which will take place from August 12-15. The following information was shared by email to all Fall semester residents on July 7, 2021 with specific instructions and action items needing their attention prior to arrival in August. Residents should make plans now to select a check-in appointment time slot and update their health information with Student Health Services.

Pre-Arrival Checklist

  1. Complete this attestation form regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. You must acknowledge that you have either received a COVID-19 vaccine, that you have not received a vaccine, or that you choose not to answer.  If you have not been vaccinated or decide not to disclose your vaccination status, you are required to participate in weekly surveillance testing.
  2. If you are fully vaccinated, please upload your vaccination record in the HealthyPack Portal.
  3. If you plan to be vaccinated: Student Health Services offers COVID-19 vaccination appointments through the PackVax clinic.  The clinic is open all summer and fall in Student Health Services. Appointments are available for anyone 12 years and older.
  4. Within 72 hours before or after your move-in appointment and regardless of vaccination status, you must provide a copy of a negative PCR COVID-19 test result, uploaded into the HealthyPack Portal. There are several convenient, on-campus testing locations if you need to test during the move-in period. If you are tested on campus, you do not need to upload your results.
  5. Sign up for your check-in appointment.  Check-in for your residence hall is by appointment only.  Appointments are available in 1-hour slots between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (last appointment slot starts at 4 p.m.) each day from August 12-15.
    1. Log into MyPack Portal and go to the Housing Portal
    2. Select Manage My Housing, located in the red navigation bar
    3. Select Fall Check-in Appointments
    4. Select the Save and Continue Button
    5. Choose your move-in appointment; confirm it
    6. Once you confirm your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email sent to your ncsu.edu email address.
  6. Be aware of what to (and what not to) bring.  We want you to make your space feel like home while remaining safe, so be sure to review the NC State Suggested Packing List.  We also recommend you bring a small cart to assist with move-in and a tarp or some type of large covering with you to help protect belongings during the move-in process in case of rain.
  7. Pack for your Wolf Den in stackable containers and label each container with your last name, building, and room number.  Additionally, we encourage you to limit the number of items you bring to campus.
  8. Know where you will check-in and what you will need to check-in. You can find all the details in our Fall Move-in Guide.

Notes:

* Approved student organization, Early Arrival (EA) residential students will not need to sign up for an appointment time for Tuesday/Wednesday, August 10-11.  This only applies to these two days and for approved student organization EA students.

**You can edit your scheduled appointment up to 24 hours before your selected appointment time.

Safety Measures

  1. To create a move-in experience as contactless as possible, NC State staff and volunteers will not move student belongings. The only exception will be for residents of Bowen, Metcalf, or Carroll who use the tram system and unload from the Coliseum Deck.
  2. Each student is limited to no more than two (2) people to assist them with move-in.
  3. Maintain physical distancing throughout the move-in process.
  4. Masks are required during the move-in period within all residential facilities.  You and your move-in assistants should bring a mask with you and be prepared to wear them.  University Housing residents and guests will follow NC State guidelines regarding masks and other community standards outside the residential facilities.

Move-In Day

  1. Traffic patterns on and around campus will be adjusted on move-in days.  Please review the NC State Transportation move-in website for the directions to your assigned residence hall. We ask you to use the provided directions instead of GPS directions.
  2. Getting checked in to your residential community: You will need a photo ID when you check in, so please make sure you have one with you.  It is preferred that you have your NC State student ID to speed up your check-in process.
  3. Upon arrival for move-in to your residential assignment:
    • Your vehicle will need to be unloaded by any move-in assistants you may bring to campus.
    • As soon as you have unloaded your vehicle, please relocate it to long-term parking.
    • Simultaneously, you will be directed to pick up your room/apartment key(s) at your designated building location. Find your check-in location on our website.
    • Note that move-in for Tri-Towers (Bowen, Metcalf, Carroll) is facilitated from the Coliseum Deck  where, with the assistance of university staff/volunteers, your belongings are loaded onto a tram, transported to the building where you are assigned to live, and unloaded for you to take to your room.  (If you prefer to unload your belongings without assistance from others, please proceed to the Harris Lot rather than the Coliseum Deck.)  A Transportation staff member will be stationed at the corner of Morrill and Cates Avenues to provide direction to either the Coliseum Deck or Harris lot.
    • If you don’t already have it, you will need to go to Stafford Commons, on the north side of Talley Student Union, to get your university-issued ID card, after unloading your vehicle but before 5 p.m.  If you happen to be on campus before move-in, you may stop by the One Card Office in Talley Student Union to pick up your student ID.
