Summer Intern Housing

On-campus apartment accommodations for students completing an internship, co-op or summer job in Raleigh.

Applications for Summer Intern Housing are due May 3, 2026.

Welcome to NC State! University Housing offers shared on-campus apartment accommodations to degree-seeking students who are completing an internship/co-op or who have a summer job in the greater Raleigh area. Our goal is to provide convenient, affordable accommodations for students from around the country and globe who are advancing their education through summer internships and employment.

Summer Intern Housing is reserved for students who are NOT currently enrolled in an NC State degree program. Enrolled NC State University students should submit an application for Summer Housing via MyPack Portal, available beginning in early March.

Summer staff members provide regular programs for visiting interns, including recreational activities, ice cream socials or game nights.

Eligibility

Students participating in the Intern Housing program must be enrolled in a post-secondary degree program, other than one hosted at NC State. We welcome students from other UNC System and ACC schools, as well as accredited colleges and universities from across the United States. The required minimum stay to be eligible for intern housing is 30 consecutive nights. Proof of student status through an attached transcript and proof of internship via an attached offer letter is required upon application. There is a non refundable $100 application fee to apply.

Rates

Summer intern housing charges for summer 2026 will be billed at a nightly rate of $36.00 per person and are due in full, at least one full week in advance of arrival at NC State. Rates are inclusive of a private bedroom within a shared apartment and cover all utilities (electricity, water, internet and basic cable service). Charges for parking are in addition to the nightly rate.

Accommodations

Interns are housed together, in the Wolf Village Apartments or Wolf Ridge Apartments on NC State’s Campus. Each fully-furnished apartment contains four (4) private bedrooms with full-size beds, two shared bathrooms, a living room, full kitchen and a washer/dryer unit. Both apartment complexes features a fitness room, service desk, volleyball courts and a Wolfline bus stop for quick access to other areas of campus and the surrounding community. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I request a single? Do you have two-bedroom or one-bedroom options available?

Unfortunately no. We only offer 4 bedroom units for our intern housing. If you have a disability request that requires you to live by yourself or to have your own bathroom, please list this in the “special accommodation” area of your application, and we will go through the appropriate approval process internally with the documentation needed to justify the request through OEO. Please note this process can take up to 30 days for approval.

How much does intern housing cost? Is there a minimum number of nights?

Our intern housing costs $36 per person, per night, with a 30 night minimum.

Is there a cost to apply?

Yes. There is a non refundable $100 application fee to apply for intern housing. We rarely run out of space, and will update this website if we reach capacity before mid April of 2026. If you apply for housing and we have hit capacity and cannot accommodate your stay, we will refund you your application fee.

I am an NC State Student. Can I apply for intern housing?

No. If you are an NC State student, and you need summer housing, please apply for housing via the Campus Living section of MyPack Portal, as you would for the academic year semesters.

Do you run out of space quickly? How early should I apply?

We have ample space available for interns over the summer and rarely run out of space to offer. Please apply as early as you know you need space. If you cancel your application, you will not be responsible for any cancellation charges, but will not get your $100 application fee back.

What is included in each apartment?

Visit our On-campus Housing website for details about amenities and 3D tours of our various halls.

Is there a gym I can go to?

Wolf Ridge and Wolf Village both have an on-property gyms that you can use during your time residing with us on campus over the summer. If you would like to purchase a non-student membership to the NC State Carmichael gym, you can do so by contacting Carmichael directly. All memberships can be purchased in person at the Wellness and Recreation Center main entrance, across from Talley Student Union. If you have any questions, please call (919) 515-7529 or email wellrec-info@ncsu.edu.

How does internet work? Is there free wifi?

Yes, anyone staying in intern housing will be able to log into the “ncsu guest” wifi here on campus at no cost. Unfortunately, this does require a sign into the network every day. If the University you attend utilizes the “eduroam” network, you should be able to access that here on NC State campus as well. In order to access the “ncsu” protected wifi- you will need a unity id and password. These are set up after your background check has been run and you will receive details in an email.

My significant other also has an internship in the area. Can we live together?

We must assign our spaces by the gender listed on your application, and cannot mix the two. If you are legally married, we can house you together in a special exemption, but you will be asked to show documentation of your union.

I work for a company that offers internships/research experiences for
students in Raleigh. We would like to cover the cost of our interns to live
on NC State campus. Is this possible?

Yes, please e-mail intern-housing@ncsu.edu and we can create a contract for you. If you reimburse your students for cost of living individually, they can simply apply through our reservation process themselves, but they would still be responsible for the $100 application fee. If you would like to request that they live together, just ask them to enter that information in the “special accommodations” portion of the application. If you would like to avoid each participant having to pay our application fee, we can create a contract for you that will void the application fee if you are housing more than 5 students with us. Anything under 5 students will still see a $100 application fee per student. If you are an internal NCSU department hosting REU students or a conference, please fill out our REU Enquiry form or reach out to guestservices@ncsu.edu for details on those reservation processes instead. These rates and availability details are different.

When do I need to cancel? Are there any cancellations fees?

We kindly ask if you need to cancel your application, to let us know 14 days prior to your check in date. We will keep your $100 application fee. If you have already paid for your entire stay, we will refund you that payment.

Can I make changes to my application after I apply?

Yes! You can make adjustments to your application up to 14 days prior to your check in. These must be done in writing to intern-housing@ncsu.edu. We will begin making room assignments on April 15, so if you have any adjustments to roommate requests, preferred housing location, or special accommodations added to your application past that date, please e-mail intern-housing@ncsu.edu to ensure we have seen your request. We will do our best to honor any changes!

How can I find roommates? If I don’t know anyone, how d

After you apply, your confirmation email will include a link to invite to our Intern Housing Facebook group that you can utilize to help you connect with other interns. If you do not select a specific person on your application, we will use the answers in to your “lifestyle questions”, as well as your age, to best place you with other students.

How long will it take to know I have a confirmed space?

After you apply, we should be able to get a confirmation e-mail your way within one week of your application. Please note that we do not have staff sending emails on the weekends.

How will I check-in and out of my assignment?

After you apply your confirmation email will included check in details. Our service desks at each location will be open from 8:00a.m.-8:00 pm every day. Please plan your travel accordingly.

If your travel plans prohibit you from arriving within these time frames please let us know in advance so that we can organize an after hours check in for you which can be approved on a case by case basis.

How do I pay? Can I pay in installments?

Payment in full must be completed 7 days prior to your check in. We will not accept partial payments. We will open this portal for payment on May 1, and it will be accessible to pay via CC on your Starrez account that you create during your application.

I have a special accommodation. How can you accommodate this?

If you have any special accommodations we should know of in regards to your housing assignment (ADA accessibility, DRO requests, ESAs, etc.) please make sure these are detailed out in your application. These will need to go through an internal approval process through OEO with NCSU. Please e-mail intern-housing@ncsu.edu if you have any questions. We should be able to accommodate most, if not all DRO requests pending proper documentation. Please note that these requests may take up to 30 days to approve.

they cost?

Parking is enforced Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. A permit is required to be parked on campus during these hours. As a summer resident, you are eligible for a Summer Parking Permit valid in the Residential parking areas surrounding Wolf Village or Wolf Ridge, respectively. Redemption details will be included in your confirmation email. Backing into spaces is prohibited on campus so that license plates are readable by our parking enforcement team.

I am traveling from a far distance and will need linens. Do you provide
any?

Unfortunately, we do not provide linens for our Intern Housing. Please plan your travel accordingly to either bring linen with you, or plan to purchase when you arrive.
